I feel it's offensive and passive agressive behavior. Have you ever said, "I know you took the time to come to see me/us, but I just don't want any company today. Maybe you could call me tomorrow and we'll set up a time to get together." It's truthful, kind, and handled in a mature way. You, and many others, may find it funny but I doubt you'd feel that way if someone hung that on their door and you dropped by to say "hi." But as they say, "opinions are like noses...everybody has one."

Um...excuse me? So many things wrong with this person! Let's count them, shall we?
- This is my blog, my home, and my sign. If you don't like what it says, you're welcome to leave.
- Sometimes people just don't respond to "nice". Sometimes you just can't get the person to leave, without being "passive aggressive".
- Guess what? I think it's funny and so do the seventeen comments before yours from people with an actual sense of humor.
- Get a life.

I've seen a similar sign for sale in Hallmark. I had no idea that Hallmark was offensive and passive aggressive. Who knew?!
Mandi says:
As Michelle on Full House would say "Oh Puuuleeeeeeeeeze." I never answer my door (well, since the paparazzi started camping out on my lawn). I thought the sign was funny. Its her house she can do what she wants (duh). Just like you Miss Anonymous can put up a sign on your front door that says "Caution, enter at your own risk. I am perfect and am probably going to judge the crap out of you. I am also chicken pants and dont usuallyre attach my name to my critiques, so I probably wont say it to your face but to everyone else in the neighborhoood. Consider yourself warned"
What do you say?

She's probably just jealous cuz no one visits her.
Yeah, she's either jealous because no one visits her. OR she's one of those annoying people who just drops by announced that you can't get to leave even though your baby is screaming, food is burning on the stove, and your dog just had an accident on the floor.
This is obviously tongue in cheek. I read the post and she explains thoroughly why and when she gets frustrated ( the same reasons that any of us would ) with unexpected company.
This commenter needs to zip it and find a sense a humor. And she needs to look up the definition of passive aggressive behavior.
Really, people? Come on.
Ten bucks says it was one of her visitors and got offended that she didn't much care for that visit.
I think it's a great sign!! I kinda want one myself!
We hardly ever answer the door unless we know who is knocking, and even then....we don't answer the door. There are times we don't even try to 'hide' that we are home. When the door is closed and locked, it's like a store....you can knock all you want, but you can't come in.
I definitely don't like unexpected visitors. All of my husbands family does that crap and I HATE it! What if I'm still in my pi's at noon? Or with no bra on?
Anyway, I think Miss Anonymous must be related to my husband and therefore she needs to quit doing that to people.
Thanks for featuring me! :-) I'm glad I am not alone in my anti-social hermit lifestyle
Well dang, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this pet peeve.
IMO, there's zero reason to not give people a heads up before stopping by. In this day and age? Everyone's got a phone within reaching distance. OMH that drives me nuts. I don't shower until almost noon. That's my dang right. Call me before, umkay?
It's not offensive-- it's tongue and cheek (and the pet peeve is OH SO TRUE!).
I suppose my "Go Away" sign is completely unacceptable.
See I don't think that was hate mail. She just had a different point of view. She even took the time to say at the end "that's just my opinion". I think perhaps that's why people post things as anonymous because they can't politely disagree without being bashed. She didn't attack this blogger, just disagreed. Since when do we not allow that? Since when is that hate mail?
I think it's rude to just stop by
someone's home without first calling and letting the other know they would like to visit. I don't think the sign is any more rude. And it's probably occasioned by the actions of rude visitors. Even my kids call before they come.
How is posting an anonymous post not one of the most passive aggressive things you can do when blogging? And it's rude to show up to someone's house unannounced. End of discussion. I call my own mother before showing up at her house.
And really, who takes that kind of thing seriously anyway?? The only time I don't answer the door is if I don't hear it. We live near a highway and lost people come knocking on our door all the time as well as amateur photographers asking to take pictures of our gorgeous red barn.
I guess she wouldn't like my doormat that just simply says "Leave." At least she can't call me passive-aggressive :)
Ummm I like the sign, where so I get one.
And yes I'm perfectly comfortable with my passive aggressiveness. Would Miss Anonymous prefer it if she was "aggressively aggressive" cause I can bet the sign would offend her even more LOL
hahaha! I have a "welcome" mat that says LEAVE on it, how rude is that? Oh yeah, I don't care how rude it is. Cute blog, love it. ;)
