I had an enormous amount of traffic hit my blog last week. I was shocked so I did a little investigation and found out that my Tin Foil Nightstand was featured on LifeHacker. I had never heard of this site before but their members have some pretty strong opinions that I thought were craziness. Here are some of my favorites:
-"Funny the difference between comments on that site (Amazing, Wonderful. Almost peed my pants it's so beautiful.) and on Lifehacker (so bad you couldn't give it away, moldy, how to make sure no one will ever want to steal it).
I couldn't agree with us more. "
I couldn't agree with us more. "
-"Agree 100% here. It just looks plain bad, if this was actually the intended result someone has horrible taste."
-"A patina should look like a patina. This just looks dirty."
-"Initial thought upon seeing the thumbnail view here on Lifehacker: Oh Goodness (edited for language) why would they make a perfectly good night stand look like an unlucky survivor of a nuclear attack?
After checking larger images on the linked site: Oh, I guess it looks alright up close. If we're gonna screw around like this I'd take it a step further and spray a nice sparkly gold over top the foil rather than grey paint ."
You may think I am strange but I think that its AWESOME that me, a little ol' momma from southern Utah, can take an old piece of furniture and put foil on it, and cause such an uproar! I think it just goes to show all of us "little bloggers" that our voices are heard.
So keep talking ladies! Also I think that I am going to take a page from my friend Mandi's book on comments:
"I always think of nice comment givers as hot, secure, cool people.
Mean comment givers are losers with a third nipple."
I just love her.

HAHAHAHA Love it! I guess I'm hot, secure and cool. hehehe
Holy Crap Cakes! I happen to love your tin foil dresser and last week actually sent the link to a friend who is going to try it.
If people don't care for that style, that's one thing. (Opinions are like a**holes - everyone has one) But these are so vicious they seem to be personal attacks! Geez Louise, people!
My guess is that these people don't have a creative bone in their bodies and they compensate for that by Extreme Criticism. Boo.
Well shoot, gonna have to find that dresser, I didn't see it!
And, yeah, Mandi's right. Third nipple freaks.
Oh brother. People think that it is their right to weigh in on EVERYTHING!!! My hubs told me there is a site called Regretsy.com for ETSY items that people decide aren't for them or worth their price. He also said that many time the shop owner will come back to that site and thank them for boosting business. HAHAHA . . .haters make ya famous. Isn't that the opposite of their goal?
I'm glad you think I'm hot. :-)
hahahaha I love the comment that said you should finish it off with a nice sparkly gold....bahaha!
WoW...your little nightstand do-over has caused quiet a furior over there! While the nightstand is not in my taste I like it and I think an awesome job was done! Why people have to be so negative about things is beyond me. I just figure it's their loss and they should keep their opinions to themselves! Can't wait to see what you cover next with that technic!
I just found this blog and I think it is so completely awesome. What a cool girl you are.
That's just too bad that some people have such ill intent. I have been following your blog for just a couple weeks now and I think you are so talented and have a great personality. I guess some people just can't handle that...their loss!
hahaha! so freaking funny.
BTDub, Mandi, the tinfoil dresser is ingenius. Love it!
Toodles~

Isn't it awesome to know that you are important enough for people to bash? Kinda makes you feel like a movie star LOL
Well I must have bad taste too because I freakin love the dresser! Some people have too much time on there hands. Maybe they should take up running or yoga to relieve their inner anger. Just sayin!
I agree with your comment ... it's not all bad to cause such a stir in the blogging world. My biggest hit day ever came from my oh-so-controversial stick-em-up cowboy valentines ... apparently guns on a valentine are a big no-no. They were discussed on a chat forum for days. It was awesome. :)
Psssshhhhhh....
Whatever. I happen to LOVE the tinfoil nightstand and I have been wanting to do this one for awhile. I love how people have nothing better to do than look at things that they don't like and then waste their precious time talking crap about it. Doesn't make any sense.
I thought the tin foil dresser was freaking amazing! I would have never thought to do something like that and stand in awe of the ingenious creativity you have! My only thought would be paint or stain. Way to do something different and beautiful! Oh, I showed it to everyone by the by because I really did think it was freaking awesome!
Hey Mandi, I found your blog by a link to that nightstand and now it is my most favorite.
I could tell at the time that the mean comments really hurt. I am glad that you came through that so beautifully.
You remind me of myself but with more energy. Love your guts, Nicole.
I thought my MIL was off balanced...
Honey
I read the comments on LifeHacker and I love how your foil covered nightstand brought up a debate over tattoos being unnecessary destruction of the human body. WHO ARE THESE POEPLE!?!
